Instant Jersey
New Jersey is my muse, but we have an open relationship
I have lived in New Jersey since last century, which is just about the time it takes to get to know a place. The subject matter that I am now drawn to is this US state and all its mysteries. I seek out the mundane, aging places that people pass by every day without really seeing, for it is in these resilient relics that the true character of our state resides. I aim to illuminate the strength & beauty of these places with my camera.
This series combines photographs from across the state with graphic icons to illustrate just how alive the post-war era remains in New Jersey. I print these images as Polaroids, hence the title.
In his review of the first exhibition of this portfolio, Ralph Bellantoni wrote in the Daily Record New Jersey, "Endy revives lost local elements and inserts them into the larger narrative of an American dream."
